Patron of AustCham Mongolia 

Ms Smith is a career officer with DFAT and most recently Director, Papua New Guinea Political and Torres Strait Section. She has previously served overseas as First Secretary, Australian Embassy, Vientiane (2018-2020); First Secretary (Development Assistance), Australian Embassy, Dili, (2013-2014); and Second, the First Secretary (Development Assistance),  Australian Embassy, Jakarta (2009-2012). 

In Canberra she has served with DFAT as Senior Adviser to the Head of the Office of the Pacific (2020); Assitant Director, Afghanistan Development Section (2016-2017); Assistant Director, Timor-Leste Section (2014-2016); and Assistant Director, Development Policy Section, AusAID (2012-2013).

Ms Smith holds a Master of Science (Environment and Development), London School of Economics (2006); a Master of Arts (International Relations) (2000) and a Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) (1999) from the University of New South Wales.
