#Australia established #diplomatic relations with #Mongolia on 15 September 1972. Bilateral engagement accelerated following democratic and free-market reforms in Mongolia in the early 1990s. The focus of the relationship to date has been on development assistance and commercial activities in Mongolia’s resources sector.

Australia opened an #Embassy in Ulaanbaatar in December 2015.

In accordance with a decree by President Battulga Khaltmaa, AustCham Mongolia’s Patron and Australian Ambassador to Mongolia HE Mr John Langtry was awarded the Medal of Friendship in recognition of his valuable contribution to the economic and social development of Mongolia and expanding and deepening the bilateral relations and cooperation between Australia and Mongolia.
