AustCham Mongolia CSR Committee aims to foster a culture of corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Mongolia and assist its’ member in their CSR activities when required.

The objective is to promote the CSR activities and initiatives of and for our members and to provide and review 12 months’ policy options for specific themes / topics, such as those related to AustCham members’ CSR projects. Through our CSR work, we strive to contribute to the overall well-being of Mongolian society and its people.

Our CSR campaigns are one of the best ways to give back to our community, help unite our members and friends, to recognize our member as businesses, employers and good corporate citizens, it has a role to play in advancing Mongolian society that is equitable and inclusive.

The AustCham CSR Grant Program

The AustCham Corporate Social Responsibility Grants Program (ACSRGP) is an annual small grants program funded by the Australian Chamber of Commerce Mongolia (AustCham). ACSRGP is directly managed and administered by the AustCham in Ulaanbaatar. The program provides the Chamber with a flexible mechanism to build networks, strengthen relations, and raise Australian companies and businesses profile in Mongolia in the CSR space. ACSRGP will support local organisations in implementing a range of innovative and scalable activities that help promote a distinct and positive image of Australian support across Mongolia.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Applications will be considered from local and international non-governmental organisations (NGOs), national and local government agencies and other not-for-profit organisations operating in Mongolia. All applicants must demonstrate that they will operate ACSRGP on a not-for-profit basis. Applications from individuals will not be considered.

WHAT TYPES OF ACTIVITIES ARE ELIGIBLE FOR ACSRGP SUPPORT?

ACSRGP will aim to fund projects in the following sectors:

Health/hygiene – focusing on responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, such as managing mental health and stress, rural and community health, combating communicable diseases, cancer prevention, emergency and distance medicines, and medical services for the disadvantaged.

Human rights – focusing on disability inclusiveness, empowering the disadvantaged and minority groups, and youth empowerment and eliminating discrimination.

Reducing domestic violence – activities designed to protect women and children and those most disadvantaged.

Disaster prevention and response – activities that focus on building the capacity of communities to prepare for and respond to wildfires, dzud and other natural disasters.

Education/youth – focusing on improving access for people with disabilities, disadvantaged adults and children, and children with special needs and promoting social inclusion.

Agriculture/rural livelihoods – activities that focus on building the capacity of rural entrepreneurs, agricultural value chains and emerging agricultural industries.

Environmental Rehabilitation and Protection – activities focused on rehabilitation or protection of natural environments contributing to maintain/improving biodiversity and combatting desertification

We will consider projects outside the scope of these priority areas if they offer innovative and scalable ideas, tools, and approaches that promote Australia’s partnership with Mongolia and contribute to local and national priorities. Progressive engagement with measurable outcomes will be encouraged. Applications that build upon past successful activities will also be viewed favourably.

ACSRGP will NOT fund the following:
– Cash grants or micro-credit schemes or projects that involve the return of money
– Commercial ventures
– Purchase of major assets, eg vehicles
– Australian or overseas study tours
– International travel
– Sponsorship of major sporting tournaments or cultural displays that do not have a clear developmental benefit
– Staff salaries
– Routine, recurring running costs and administrative expenses, including office rental and utility costs, spare parts, and routine maintenance

Projects should be self-contained, with finite timelines. Activities in which the recipient community themselves makes a significant contribution in terms of labour, materials or cash will be particularly well-received. Projects that may act as a catalyst for further development of the community or promote a model for similar developments elsewhere will also be welcomed.

All projects must clearly articulate how their activities will have an impact on people with disabilities, even if this is not it’s primary focus. At a minimum, the project proposal must articulate how people with a disability are equally able to access the outputs from the project and participate equally in project implementation.

All projects should also consider gender issues throughout, including gender balance in participation and access to outputs.
