Andrew Berryman

Deputy Head of Mission of Australian Embassy in Mongolia

Mr Berryman has 20 years’ experience working in the Australian public sector including postings to Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Thursday Island. He has extensive experience working in the Australian Department of Defence and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in international policy, program management and development roles. Mr Berryman served as the Strategic Advisor to the PNG Department of Defence under the Defence Cooperation Program from 2017 to 2020 and Head of the Torres Strait Treaty Liaison Office from 2021-2024. On 19 August 2024 Mr Berryman commenced as Deputy Head of Mission to the Australian Embassy in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

I have been working for the AAM Program for 15 years, managing the overall operation of the Program, which includes scholar and alumni engagement, leadership program development and implementation, and linkages between Australia and Mongolia. I can continue to contribute to the success of Austcham via my extensive network of Australian Alumni, the Mozzies and experience with knowledge of Mongolian stakeholders in various areas of the public and private sector. All of these relationships can help to further strengthen the ties between Australian and Mongolian businesses through their personal and professional networks. Additionally, I am committed to promoting AustCham’s CSR efforts, leveraging my leadership experience in community development, business development, and stakeholder engagement. I am willing to further contribute to strengthen the daily operations of Austcham through my leadership and cooperation with other board members.

It is my pleasure to serve as Board of Director at AustCham Mongolia. with over 20 years of experience in the tax, finance, and accounting sectors, I have cultivated a deep understanding of these fields through various roles. My Career began at the Ministry of Finance, where i worked in the Accounting Policy and Fiscal Policy Departments. As a state official, I was involved in tax law drafting and discussions, which has equipped me with valuable insights into the legislative process. Currently, I am leading the Tax Consultancy practice at PwC Mongolia. I Hold a master's degree in finance from the University of Melbourne, which i completed under and Australian Government Scholarship. In addition, I have earned professional qualifications including ACCA, CPA (Mongolia), and CPTA (Mongolia). I am also in the process of completing the final exam (EU VAT) for the ADIT qualification from the Chartered Tax Institute of the UK. As a Board member, i am committed to leveraging my extensive experience to assist AustCham in shaping policy papers and advocacy initiatives related to Mongolia's taxation, business, and investment environment. I am also eager to keep AustCham members informed about upcoming or proposed tax-related legislative changes in Mongolia. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to collaborate with the Board of directors to advance AustCham Mongolia's mission and support the growth and success of its members.

CEO of Bayan Airag Exploration LLC

Peter is an Australian citizen, who has worked in Mongolia since 2019 as CEO of Bayan Airag Exploration LLC, a privately-owned gold mine in Zavkhan aimag.  He was trained as a geologist, with BSc and MSc degrees, and has had a career of over 35 years working in Australia, Chile, Kazakhstan and Mongolia in the exploration, development and management of gold, copper, nickel and iron ore businesses. He has previously been MD/CEO of several ASX-listed companies (BCD Resources, Central Asian Resources, Capricorn Metals), and non-executive director of Marmota Resources.  He is passionate about mineral development in Mongolia and how it can drive prosperity and has been a member of AustCham’s Business Development committee for two years.

Chief Operations Officer of RJE Mongolia LLC

Munkhzul (Zula) currently works as the Chief Operations Officer at RJE Mongolia LL, an Australian-Mongolian Joint Venture company that provides engineering and construction services to the resources and mining industry in Mongolia. Her background includes 10 years living in Adelaide for senior schooling, University and working for RJE Global in South Australia. She also has extensive experience in Project Management for Khan Bank. Holding a degree in Information Technology from Flinders University in South Australia which exposes her to the technical side of the world, however, her education and work experience has been in project management.

"Most of my life has been shaped in Australia, and having a role in my organization being a bridge between Australians and Mongolians to bring the two different cultures and values together, and I believe this will be relevant to AustCham Mongolia’s mission. I have held senior roles including General Manager at Hidden Valley and St Ives Gold Mines, and Chief Operating Officer at Karora Resources in Perth. Throughout my career, I have focused on operational excellence, strong safety culture, and sustainable business growth through strategic planning and innovation. My leadership approach is grounded in collaboration, sound governance, and meaningful engagement with communities, regulators, and industry stakeholders. I aim to contribute practical industry insight, support responsible growth, and strengthen partnerships that advance AustCham’s mission and the broader business community.

I have been Chairman of Trade and Development Bank (TDB) since April 2022. I first came to Mongolia in 2004 as part of ING Bank’s management and technical assistance agreement with TDB. Since then, I have held positions such as Executive Director, President, Board Member, and Deputy Chairman. With extensive experience in the banking and finance sector, I have specialized in corporate governance, investment, international relations, and bond issuance. I have formerly worked in over 12 countries for more than 50 years. Using my experience, I aim to work to support and nourish a business environment, where businesses of Mongolia and Australia both thrives.

Dulguun is a Partner at Dunnaran & Partners LLP, a local law firm launched by the former lawyers of MinerEllison, an Australian-based international law firm, following its exit from the market. Dulguun worked for MinterEllison for nearly 10 years. He is an experienced corporate and commercial lawyer with over 10 years of relevant experience advising foreign investors on their Mongolian investments and operations. Dulguun's expertise covers mergers and acquisitions, corporate and commercial, financing, regulatory compliance, energy and resources, real estate, and licensing. Dulguun is educated in both Mongolia and the UK, obtaining an LLB from the National University and an LLM from the University of Westminster. Dulguun was involved in drafting AustCham Mongolia's charter, and has been providing ongoing legal support to AustCham Mongolia since its establishment and has served on the balloting committee for its AGM several times previously.

Dolgormaa services as the CEO of Bodi International (Bodi) LLC, which is one of the leading entities in Mongolian infrastracture since 1993 with 8 subsidiaries. BI is implementing complex engineering projects and businesses in the mining, railway, construction, and power sectors. In 2023, Bodi celebrates its 30th Anniversary with the successful completion of the Tavantolgoi-Gashuunsukhait railway project. Several projects, such as the Buuruljuut Power Plant, Tavantolgoi Coal Terminal etc., are ongoing now. In the last decade, Bodi's business operations are diversified and widened across several sectors. As a result, Bodi is looking forward to partnering with Australian companies to enhance the Mongolian economic situation in a comprehensive way. Additionally, in the past, I have served on the board of esteemed organizations such as MIG Insurance Ltd, Intermed Hospital, and the American School of Ulaanbaatar. My experience extends to high-level executive management positions within the construction and hospitality sectors, culminating in my current role as CEO of a mining exploration company.
